Peonies Baby Slings, LLC is an online company specializing in hand sewn, high quality ring slings and Mei Tai baby carriers. Many of our sling designs are one-of-a-kind, never to be repeated. We also offer custom designs, with your choice of fine designer prints.

The Peonies Baby Sling Story
Shortly after the birth of her second child, Denise DiCaprio was having difficulty taking care of her oldest son while nursing her newborn, especially with the closeness of their ages. She realized that she would have to find a solution in order to continue breastfeeding, a goal too important to give up.
When her pediatrician suggested a baby sling, she drew from her sewing experience, including custom boat enclosures / canvas, draperies, upholstery, and quilting, to make her own ring slings. She says,
“I was skeptical if they would work to calm my little guy during his fussy periods at night… or if they would help me take care of my eldest son, but I was desperate at this point. To my surprise, my slings became my other set of hands. They help so much on rough days when my little angels are being little monsters! Any mom who has ever used a sling can tell you that they almost mimic the womb... and can soothe even the fussiest of babies. I truly believe that a wel- made ring sling is worth it's weight in gold.”
She realized that she could offer her handmade designer slings, as well as her knowledge and experience in babywearing, to mothers as desperate as she had been to find the solution to juggling older children, household duties, and breastfeeding.
Knowing how expensive designer ring slings are on the current market, she determined to offer her designs as reasonably priced as possible:
“I know when you have a baby, it seems like there is all this "stuff" you have to buy... a crib, car seat, clothing, diapers, a swing… it can be overwhelming. And if your family is like mine, we had to budget all that in… The families that I know cannot afford to spend $100+ on a designer ring sling.”
Finding that perfect balance between high quality and affordable, Denise opened Peonies Baby Slings in November of 2007. Since then, she has been offering her unique baby sling designs to mothers everywhere!
Meet the Owner
Denise DiCaprio is extremely passionate about breastfeeding, attachment parenting, and babywearing. As an advocate of breastfeeding and mother to two boys, she is delighted to support any mother who wants to pursue the best for her baby.
 | She offers a wealth of information on her website and through her local classes on babywearing. She even invites local mothers to call her to make an appointment:
“If you live locally, I encourage you to call me for an appointment. I'll do a custom fitting for you and let you browse through my fabric stash to pick out the fabrics for your new carrier. If you'd like, I'll also give you a quick lesson on positioning if you are a novice to babywearing. I will also gladly teach a 30-minute baby wearing class to your playgroup… just email me to set a date!” |
