Hip Carry

IMPORTANT NOTICE:
With great sadness as of December 16, 2009,  Peonies will be closing it's online store. Due to the growth of my other company & the birth of my 3rd child I no longer have the time to manage the boutique. I have enjoyed helping many mothers during the years we've been open and will truly miss all of you. We will no longer be accepting any orders at this time, but should you have a question about using your Peonies carrier or previous order questions please feel free to contact me.

Sincerest Regards,
Denise DiCaprio

This is an appropriate position for older babies and toddlers.

Positioning in hip carry is very simular to tummy to tummy. First begin by resting your child's weight on your chest on the opposite side of where your rings rest. While you support the child's weight, lower him/her into the sling with his/her legs extending out of the sling. Rest the baby's wieght on your hip with his/her legs in a straddling positon. The fabric should cup the baby's bottom completely (thighs should be slightly higher than the baby's bottom).

Tighten your sling by pulling the tail up and out with one hand. When making adjustments to your sling, one hand should always be on the baby.

Now spread the fabric over the babies back it can either go over the child's shoulders or under the armpits. The top rail of your sling may be a little loose at this point, so give the top rail a tug. Mind where your rings are at this point, if they are too low you will have to adjust your sling.

That's it! Easy enough right?
