Tips & Tricks, Troubleshooting Your Sling

IMPORTANT NOTICE:
With great sadness as of December 16, 2009,  Peonies will be closing it's online store. Due to the growth of my other company & the birth of my 3rd child I no longer have the time to manage the boutique. I have enjoyed helping many mothers during the years we've been open and will truly miss all of you. We will no longer be accepting any orders at this time, but should you have a question about using your Peonies carrier or previous order questions please feel free to contact me.

Sincerest Regards,

Common problems and quick fixes for your Peonies Baby Slings Ring Sling. If your issue isn't covered here please feel free to contact us by phone at 1.866.922.0552 or by email at customerservice@peoniesbabyslings.com

The sling is uncomfortable and my back/shoulder/neck hurts.

First, check to make sure that the fabric is spread evenly across your back. If it's not, the babies weight will not be distributed correctly and could be causing strain.
Also check to make sure that your sling isn't twisted. A twisted sling will also cause unnecessary strain.
The baby should also be close to you and positioned up high. A low baby or one that is pulling away from you can cause pressure as well.

When I tighten the sling, the rings end up very low.

Most likely your putting your threading your sling too loosely before you put it on. Try making the sling fit tighter to your body before putting it on.

Baby has red marks on backs of their legs.

Most likely cause is improper postioning of the child in the sling. Be sure when ever the baby is in a seated position that the fabric is completely extended to his/her knees. His/ her bottom should be slightly lower than the thighs.

I cannot get my child close to me, it feels like he/ she is pulling away.

You should tighten your top rail. Find the rails of your tail and give the top one a good tug.

My baby is just getting used to the sling and is fussy in it.

Just like anything, the sling will take some getting used to. Try walking around with your baby and calmly talking to him/ her. Your baby loves to be close to you. It reminds your little one very much of being in the womb.
If the baby seems uncomfortable- try another position. Take your child's cues... if he/ she is sleepy put them in a cradle position...
Every baby is different and they may favor one postion over another.
