Vertical Nurse

IMPORTANT NOTICE:
With great sadness as of December 16, 2009,  Peonies will be closing it's online store. Due to the growth of my other company & the birth of my 3rd child I no longer have the time to manage the boutique. I have enjoyed helping many mothers during the years we've been open and will truly miss all of you. We will no longer be accepting any orders at this time, but should you have a question about using your Peonies carrier or previous order questions please feel free to contact me.

Sincerest Regards,

Nursing upright can really help with fussy babies who are dealing with breastfeeding issues due to fast flow and over-active let down or over-active milk supply. Upright nursing is also great for babies with reflux. My youngest son and I dealt with these issues and the combination of vertical nursing and the sling helped us both greatly!

To begin, rest your babies weight on your chest on the shoulder opposite your rings. Supporting his/her wieght, slide their bottom into the sling with their legs protruding out the bottom. Now with his/her legs in a straddling position, rest the baby's weight on your hip. The sling body should cup your baby's bottom completely. Fabric should extend all the way to the knees.
Continue supporting your child's weight while you tighten your sling. Simply pull the tail fabric out slightly and down.
Spread the fabric either over your child's shoulders to support the neck (younger babies) or tuck the fabric under his/her armpits.
The top rail may be a little loose at this point, to tighten it support your babies back and find the top rail of your tail- adjust it accordingly.
